Longest Hole In One on Record

Have you often wondered how professional golfers seem to hit the ball with such skill and accuracy? Or how about when someone gets a hole in one? Many wonder if it is a matter of luck or skill or a little bit of both. Getting a hole in one is one of the most sought after achievements for golfers. It has eluded even some of the best golfers in the world but some golfers have managed to pull it off from all lengths. Anytime a golfer gets a hole in one it is a sight to see. But what is the longest hole in one on record?

There have been many hole in ones recorded over the years, and many are quite impressive. Some records have been challenged due to technical reasons, but others hold strong. On July 4th, 2002 at the Green Valley Ranch Golf Club in Denver, CO, Michael J. Crean sunk a hole in one on a Par 5 hole with a distance of 517 yards. Although the distance on this hole in one would have qualified it as being the longest hole in one, because of a dogleg on the hole, the ball actually cut the corner and it was not officially recognized as the longest hole in one.

Although some golfers have came very close, there is still one record that is yet to be beat and that held strong for over 40 years. For many years, the longest hole in one on record occurred on October 7, 1965 at the Miracle Hills Golf Course in Omaha. Robert Mitera hit a beauty of a shot–a 447 yard hole in one making it the longest record ever! In 2007, Bret Melson hit the new record in Oahu, Hawaii at 448 yards, beating the old record by just one yard. While these are not common at this distance, there have been a few others who have managed to come close. The longest double eagle on books was recorded by Kevin Murray on the 2nd hold at the Guam Navy Golf Course with an astonishing 647 yard hole.

Many golf courses are now holding their own versions of hole in one contests for fun and prizes. If you want to host your own golfing event or hole in one contest, one of the easiest ways to add some major excitement is to offer large prize payouts with coverage through National Hole-In-One Association. Whether you are planning a charity golf event, million dollar shootout or a putting contest, you should look into purchasing hole-in-one coverage for your contest. With NHIOA , you will get the protection and support you need to have a successful golf event.

Most golf event coordinators are turning to hole-in-one insurance to make their events more secure and be a lot more exciting. Hole in one contests are very popular and fun events that usually attract large crowds. Having a hole in one contest with coverage through National Hole-In-One Association is a great way to feel secure.

Social Media for Golfers

For an avid golfer, golfing can be so enjoyable that for some their passion goes well beyond the course. Many golfers seek to meet others who share the same drive for the game of golf as they do. They often wish to get golfing tips or to know how to get involved with golf related events but aren’t sure where to access this information.
Well, thanks to the ever-growing Internet, there are now a number of websites devoted exclusively to social media and networking for golfers and fans of golf. National Hole-in-One Association has done some research for you:
GNN (Golf News Net)
This site provides the latest news in the world of golf. The online community allows for open dialogue in regard to professional golf tours, celebrity golf tournaments, charity golf tournaments, and much more. Members can get tips and tricks on improving their own game, inside scoops on certain golf courses, information on golf equipment, and pretty much any type of information a golfer may be looking for.
GNN shares interviews with professional golfers, commentary from major golf tournaments, the latest news about golf, and direct access to Ryan Ballengee. Ryan is the host of The 19th Hole Golf Show and LPGA on GNN and the author of many weekly syndicated golf articles. He also moderates for Waggle Room, which is in collaboration with GNN.
Golf News Net has also created the most popular blog spot for golfers, called Waggle Room. Together these social media sites are able to help major golf tours promote online, educate other golfers and fans, and much more. Both sites work together to bring the most social media to the golfing world.
Waggle Room
An extension of GNN and the most popular blog site for golfers, Waggle Room is user-generated by allowing members to post their own articles into Waggle Room’s blogs. Known as ‘FanPosts’ and ‘FanShots,’ members can upload their own content, stats, pics, and pure funnies that may or may not have to do with golf. Any site visitor may access the schedule for major golf events, such as the PGA Tour, at any time.
Just like with GNN, you can send direct questions to Ryan Ballengee. He promises to have access to the best of the best in golf to get you the answers you need.
Both GNN and Waggle Room are free to join and use.
The Golf Space
Also a free social media site for golf enthusiasts, The Golf Space allows members to add content, pictures, and even videos. Members may add a picture to their profile and The Golf Space provides members with email capabilities straight through the site.
Everyone’s heard of ‘Fantasy Football,’ but what about ‘Fantasy Golf?’ With The Golf Space, you can create your own Fantasy Golf team and join in on the SMACK TALK Thread. This site also offers an open forum and blog space.

Non-Golfer wins Hole in one contest!

NHIOA Helps Golf Tourney Pay Off For Charity

For 3 years golfers in California have supported children and police at the WCPD Met / LACITEA TOURNAMENT. It has been a good tournament. But this year it was great!

Especially for golfer Duran Villegas. It was the 10th hole at the California Country Club. Duran faced a 167 yard shot, downhill, with water to the left. “I saw the whole thing. The ball hit and drew back one bounce into the cup. Everyone started jumping up and down. It was amazing!”

That shot was worth $10,000. National Hole in One Association insured the prize. And Tournament Director Roberta Floyd could not be any happier than to have NHIOA on her side. “To be honest I am a non-golfer. I had to be lead by the hand through some of this. The help I received from NHIOA was great!”

A friend had used NHIOA and recommended the company to Roberta. “NHIOA provided the signs, everything. It was fantastic!”

Not only has the tournament already received a lot of publicity from its first hole-in-one winner, but Roberta says there is already a buzz for next year’s event.

This one tournament supports two organizations. One provides scholarships for students interested in technology. The other helps police officers pay for special equipment the department’s budget cannot cover
