Longest Hole In One on Record

Have you often wondered how professional golfers seem to hit the ball with such skill and accuracy? Or how about when someone gets a hole in one? Many wonder if it is a matter of luck or skill or a little bit of both. Getting a hole in one is one of the most sought after achievements for golfers. It has eluded even some of the best golfers in the world but some golfers have managed to pull it off from all lengths. Anytime a golfer gets a hole in one it is a sight to see. But what is the longest hole in one on record?

There have been many hole in ones recorded over the years, and many are quite impressive. Some records have been challenged due to technical reasons, but others hold strong. On July 4th, 2002 at the Green Valley Ranch Golf Club in Denver, CO, Michael J. Crean sunk a hole in one on a Par 5 hole with a distance of 517 yards. Although the distance on this hole in one would have qualified it as being the longest hole in one, because of a dogleg on the hole, the ball actually cut the corner and it was not officially recognized as the longest hole in one.

Although some golfers have came very close, there is still one record that is yet to be beat and that held strong for over 40 years. For many years, the longest hole in one on record occurred on October 7, 1965 at the Miracle Hills Golf Course in Omaha. Robert Mitera hit a beauty of a shot–a 447 yard hole in one making it the longest record ever! In 2007, Bret Melson hit the new record in Oahu, Hawaii at 448 yards, beating the old record by just one yard. While these are not common at this distance, there have been a few others who have managed to come close. The longest double eagle on books was recorded by Kevin Murray on the 2nd hold at the Guam Navy Golf Course with an astonishing 647 yard hole.

Many golf courses are now holding their own versions of hole in one contests for fun and prizes. If you want to host your own golfing event or hole in one contest, one of the easiest ways to add some major excitement is to offer large prize payouts with coverage through National Hole-In-One Association. Whether you are planning a charity golf event, million dollar shootout or a putting contest, you should look into purchasing hole-in-one coverage for your contest. With NHIOA , you will get the protection and support you need to have a successful golf event.

Most golf event coordinators are turning to hole-in-one insurance to make their events more secure and be a lot more exciting. Hole in one contests are very popular and fun events that usually attract large crowds. Having a hole in one contest with coverage through National Hole-In-One Association is a great way to feel secure.

Congratulation to Ira Levinsky! Hole-in-one Wentworth Hills Golf Club

Playing with his regular golf buddies Gary N., Stu G. and Carl A. at Wentworth Hills Golf Club in Plainville, MA on a cool, overcast Saturday morning at the beginning of May, Ira Levinsky watched with amazement as he swung his faithful five iron with perfect tempo and guided the ball 138 yards onto the green. The foursome watched it roll and roll and roll ever so slightly to the left and fall masterfully into the tiny hole on the distant, yet clearly visible, 11th green. It was a dream come true as four fifty-somethings celebrated as if they had ALL just scored their first ace. For the moment, Ira was definitely “the man”.

Hole-in-one Insurance making Golf tournaments better!

A hole-in-one in golf is a rare treat to the many golfers that call golf their favorite game and one of the hardest to accomplish of any sport. The hole-in-one statisic of an average golfer making a hole-in-one is 1 in 12,5000, for a PGA Touring pro the odds increase to 1 in 2,500. Many golfers can play a life time without one, then there are some like Mancil Davis who garner more than their fair share. A golfer with a club will wack a little white ball sending it on the exact distance to a little bitty hole, it is remarkable. It’s a great emotional experience when one happens for a golfer, its moment the they will remember for a life time.

Golf tournaments have long been a favorite way for charities to raise much needed funds. Golfers are typically in an above average income bracket and willing to support charities while playing their favorite game. Back in the early 1980’s, John Everhart, the founder of National Hole-In-One Association, put insurance and golf together and it was a prefect match! With long odds, large prizes and the chance to win big, hole-in-one insurance was born.

Hole-in-one insurance has proven to be a vital tool for many golf tournaments because it adds excitement for all players no matter their skill. Many golf stories have been created by the use of this promotional tool, “I missed the big cash by only 2 feet!” Of course, for some, that distance gets shorter over time, but for many hole-in-one contest winners, the prize is just half the story. For the tournament directors, sponsors and their clients, the option to buy hole in one insurance coverage is a cost effective option which takes only a few minutes to purchase but greatly increases participation and media attention. With the relatively low cost for insuring prizes and the large cost of having to pay out for a large prize even though the odds are long, they do happen.  Hole-in-one insurance makes economic sense. There are tens of thousands insured golf tournaments across the United States…the world each year, and the vast majority of them rather pay a small premium rather than take that chance.  To put this in perspective, in over 25 years, National Hole-In-One Association has paid out over fifty million in cash and prizes, it makes good sense to let us take the risk.
