Longest Hole In One on Record

Have you often wondered how professional golfers seem to hit the ball with such skill and accuracy? Or how about when someone gets a hole in one? Many wonder if it is a matter of luck or skill or a little bit of both. Getting a hole in one is one of the most sought after achievements for golfers. It has eluded even some of the best golfers in the world but some golfers have managed to pull it off from all lengths. Anytime a golfer gets a hole in one it is a sight to see. But what is the longest hole in one on record?

There have been many hole in ones recorded over the years, and many are quite impressive. Some records have been challenged due to technical reasons, but others hold strong. On July 4th, 2002 at the Green Valley Ranch Golf Club in Denver, CO, Michael J. Crean sunk a hole in one on a Par 5 hole with a distance of 517 yards. Although the distance on this hole in one would have qualified it as being the longest hole in one, because of a dogleg on the hole, the ball actually cut the corner and it was not officially recognized as the longest hole in one.

Although some golfers have came very close, there is still one record that is yet to be beat and that held strong for over 40 years. For many years, the longest hole in one on record occurred on October 7, 1965 at the Miracle Hills Golf Course in Omaha. Robert Mitera hit a beauty of a shot–a 447 yard hole in one making it the longest record ever! In 2007, Bret Melson hit the new record in Oahu, Hawaii at 448 yards, beating the old record by just one yard. While these are not common at this distance, there have been a few others who have managed to come close. The longest double eagle on books was recorded by Kevin Murray on the 2nd hold at the Guam Navy Golf Course with an astonishing 647 yard hole.

Many golf courses are now holding their own versions of hole in one contests for fun and prizes. If you want to host your own golfing event or hole in one contest, one of the easiest ways to add some major excitement is to offer large prize payouts with coverage through National Hole-In-One Association. Whether you are planning a charity golf event, million dollar shootout or a putting contest, you should look into purchasing hole-in-one coverage for your contest. With NHIOA , you will get the protection and support you need to have a successful golf event.

Most golf event coordinators are turning to hole-in-one insurance to make their events more secure and be a lot more exciting. Hole in one contests are very popular and fun events that usually attract large crowds. Having a hole in one contest with coverage through National Hole-In-One Association is a great way to feel secure.

Can’t tell you how much a difference having your hole in one insurance at a tournament is. We used your guy Mancil Davis, the PGA Record Holder of 51 holes in one at an event we did with his Million Dollar Hole In One trailer. An Iraq Vet missed the Million Dollars by a mere six feet.
